Dmitriy Yavid is a seasoned engineer and inventor with vast experience in developing complex, multi-disciplinary solutions. As a consultant, he offers his clients creative, result-oriented thinking based on his solid background in physics and diverse expertise spanning optics, mechanics, electronics and software.
Dmitriy earned his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (with honors) from Belorussian Polytechnic University in Minsk, Belarus. He then worked as a researcher in the Applied Physics Lab in the same university while continuing his studies in Semiconductor Physics as a post-grad. Simultaneously, he started his consulting business, designing and deploying industrial automation systems for various clients in Belarus.
After moving to US 20 years ago, Dmitriy worked as a Systems Engineer, developing complex opto-electro-mechanical products, including one of the first commercially-available smart phones, and the industry’s first high-resolution, color laser micro-projector. His corporate career culminated as a Fellow of Technical Staff at Motorola’s Applied Research Center, where Dmitriy was responsible for developing emerging technologies, including video-analytics and Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID). Motorola marked his services with Distinguished Innovator and Master Innovator Awards.
Dmitriy holds over 50 patents, spanning a wide variety of engineering subjects. He also has considerable experience in organizing and managing IP portfolios.
Dmitriy is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Optical Society of America (OSA). He keeps himself up-to-date with industry trends and developments, ready to learn and pounce on new ideas.
As a hobby, Dmitriy plays table tennis and chess at advanced level. Good partners are always welcome.
